Document Interview

Project goals
  • Create a mobile version of the document interview
  • Create a version for the UK audience

The challenge

The current interview experience was outdated in terms of look and feel. We also wanted to create a better experience based on Google Ventures design sprint learnings.

What's a design sprint?

Google Ventures was a recent investor in Rocket Lawyer. Several GV designers visited our offices and became embedded in our design team to teach us design sprint methodology.

In this first sprint, we re-imagined what a future version of the product could be. Ideation consisted of a competitive analysis, interviewing customer service, creating personas and lots of Post-It notes and sketching.

Rapid prototyping

After a lot of sketching, as a team, we created a prototype for a round of in-person user testing to validate our ideas.

UK version of the site

Later the company opened a London office. I traveled abroad to work with the UK team and to launch a British version of the site. I worked with a UK designer to deliver journey diagrams, wireframes and functionality specs.

The UK version of the site is able to take advantage of being built on Java instead of .net so we were able to implement some the new concepts discovered in our extensive ideation sessions. My dog was also successful at being prominently featured on the homepage.

Product launch in the US

I delivered a fully responsive version of the US interview, allowing customers to have an end-to-end document creation experience on any screen size.
